I am reposting the relevant sections of our Upcoming Dates for your convenience.
Monday, December 11 is our 2nd week of Advent Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. Our class will be presenting this Liturgy along with buddies from Mr. Hopkins' grade 4 class. All are warmly encouraged to attend. Please have your child dress nicely for this special occasion.
Thursday, December 21 will be our Christmas Concert Dress Rehearsal from 1:00-3:30 p.m. This gives the Primary students a chance to share their song/dance and watch their friends' as well. Parents must wait until the next day to view the concert.
Friday, December 22 is our Primary Christmas Concert from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please plan to attend to see your child sing and dance a tribute to Baby Jesus.
This is our song, overwhelmingly chosen by the students:
O What a Special Night

Mary - Mary's costume is being provided by her family.

Extra work for over the holidays
I have sent home some word building activities to work on with your child. Each page is followed by a page with larger letters. Please cut out these letters and have your child manipulate them to form the words. These will help your child with their reading, writing and spelling.
Please have your children write purposefully over the holidays. You could have them create a list for Santa, a card for Grandma, a thank you note for Aunt Kerry, etc. They should be sounding out each word one at a time (broken into chunks if it is a longer word) and trying to write at least one letter for each sound they hear. When they are finished, you can then write their message in pencil on another sheet of paper and have them copy the correct version.
Please do correct reversals of letters and numbers.
I strongly recommend that your child reads on Raz Kids every day at their level. If there is a problem with their level (too easy or too difficult), please let me know immediately and I will move them accordingly.
I am sending home a game called Roll to 100. Your child can play this alone with 2 colours of dry erase markers, or play with 1, 2 or 3 others, as long as everyone has one colour of their own.
Next week I will send home a 10 frame game for those children who could benefit from it. Instructions will be included with the game.
**Please let me know if you have not received the December homework, good deed Angels, Build-a-word package, or Roll to 100 (sent home Friday, December 7). Things do tend to go missing from time to time on the way home.**
I have two Advent Bags in circulation. Each child will have the opportunity to take the bag home overnight and enjoy the contents (songs, prayers, an Advent wreath with candles and a story) and return to school the next day. I apologize in advance if every child does not have the opportunity before Christmas as sometimes bags are forgotten at school or home. We will try our best. If you miss the bag before Christmas, it will be sent home in the New Year.
Parent Phone Interviews
There are still a few parents I have not yet had the opportunity to speak with. I will be making phone calls next Tuesday, the 12th, from 3:45-4:30, and next Thursday, the 14th, from 3:45-4:30. Please write a note in your child's agenda indicating which day would work best for you and I will do my best to accommodate you.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!!
